tutorial: doll's kimono pattern for BA dolls
You see...my big misfit HATES moving dolls...she's always been scared of them :). Recently, she's a tad bit braver and she got this little boy doll as a gift on her second birthday, but it could move and cry. So, when I bought her sister a Baby Alive girl doll that could not move, she wants it too. So, last night they were fighting over the girl doll because the doll was wearing a pink dress and lately she's very into pink *sigh...*. After I took out the batteries in her boy doll, she requested a pink outfit for the doll. I couldn't possibly make the doll a dress because it's a boy :) hahahahaha...my conscience just wouldn't let me. So, instead I made it a kimono PJ :). I thought I'll share you the pattern I made. It was really quick to make and I sewed it using french seam. It is a mess, I know...

ReplyDeleteLia, How did you know I've been wanting to make some clothes for my little girl's Baby Alive doll?? Thanks so much for the pattern! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the little kimono and pants outfit! And you finished them with French seams, even! I'll definitely be making some of these for Liv's doll.

Adorable outfit! I'm annoyed with the baby alive dolls though. We're from the Philippines and all the baby dolls I find in shops here are blonde and blue eyed. I wish I could find an Asian looking baby doll that doesn't drink, blink, pee, poop, cry or wiggle.

ReplyDeleteYour kimono design is great. Your little girl is so cute. You can use acrylic paints to transform Baby Alive into a dark eyed,dark haired beauty. There are tutorials on the internet. If you ever colored in a coloring book as a kid, you know to stay within the lines. Do the same for the dolls eyes. Change the blue to brown. Replace the blond hair with black. It might take a couple of coats and a sealer to finish. If you don't like the results, it washes off, before the sealer is applied. From an old doll maker.
